The Volunteer Experience.

As a volunteer here at Boskoppie you play a crucial role in our animals' lives.
Your experience will be incredibly hands-on.

Bottle Feeding The Cubs
Our cubs require feeding several times a day so you will have ample opportunity to feed the cubs.

Preparing Food
Once the cubs are old enough to have meat you will get the satisfaction of plating up for them and watching them tuck in!

Maintaining The Cubs' Enclosures
Lion and tiger cubs may be cute but they can be very messy! We carry out all the cleaning in the morning to avoid the heat of the day and as soon as the work is out of the way, it’s time to play!

Playing With The Cubs
Even as young cubs, they need interaction and stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. Between feeds the time is yours to play with everyone. Whether it’s playing hide and seek in the garden or letting them climb all over you- you are sure to enjoy these special moments.

Other duties may include taking tourists around the park showing them the big cats and general maintenance of the big cat enclosures.

Extras
You may even get the chance to try your hand at cattle-ranching when they need to be attended to.  If you just want to relax then enjoy an evening around the fire with your fellow volunteers.  There is something to suit everybody.  Volunteers can also book day trips to other attractions (for an additional cost) such as Rhino touring with a helicopter ride, visit an Elephant Sanctuary, or go horse-riding and fishing.

Since Boskoppie is located in the Jordan Valley, there is an access of 25 lakes, ponds, ravines and rivers; and offers a very wide variety of bird watching opportunities with unique species only to this area.

Boskoppie has the biggest single privately owned Kafue Lechwe herd in the world. Other animals Kudu, Impala, Red Buck, Water Buck, Warthog, Springbuck, Wildebeest, and other plains game.

We regularly dart buck for relocating, research, or medical reasons, so volunteers may have the opportunity to participate in that activity.
